Kate H Jones
I’ve always loved art and stories, and it’s a great pleasure to be make my own. I take inspiration from the world around me, and have a particular soft spot for the Shrewsbury countryside. Quentin Blake, Beatrix Potter, Sylvia Plath, Jill Barklem are great inspirations to me, as well as too many others to count.
I studied English and Creative Arts at university, and am currently working on my master’s degree to become a primary school teacher. My illustrations are made with ink, watercolour, pencil and gouache. I have spent years working with children as a governess in France, which means lots of practice telling and testing little stories. I love working in design and decor – from mounted nursery illustrations to soft furnishing patterns. I would love to work with companies such as Royal Doulton, Voyage Maison and Caspari, I dream of having a countryside cottage with a great big garden, and a goose named Lucie.
